Role Summary:

The Senior Accountant supports the finance team in day-to-day operations and department- wide projects and is integral to the monthly close process, including reconciliations and journal entries. This role works independently in a fast-paced environment, has public company reporting experience and embraces a team mentality to support the entire organization
This role is based in Waltham, MA without the possibility of being a remote role.
 
Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist with driving the monthly closing process and prepare account reconciliations
  • Work cross functionally to track monthly R&D and G&A accruals and improve processes
  • Analyze monthly variances across accounts and investigate discrepancies as needed
  • Review monthly GL transactions to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Review and monitor purchase requisitions to ensure accuracy and consistency across the organization
  • Act as point of contact for finance systems and provide operational support across all departments in the organization to support a high-growth company
  • General ledger / ERP implementation and maintenance
  • Support quarterly reviews and annual audit process with external auditors
  • Support quarterly testing of internal control with external consultants
  • Assist in establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies and principles
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
  • Support management and cross functional teams through ad-hoc reporting, analysis and special projects, and employee experience initiatives
  • Work with various business providers to identify and implement appropriate software solutions for a high-growth company

 

Education and Skills Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar field is required
  • CPA is required
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of progressive accounting – Life Science industry experience is preferred
  • Solid knowledge of S. GAAP and SOX
  • Highly detail-oriented and exceptionally organized; accountable to immediate team and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions and build key external relationships
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal are mandatory
  • Ability to manage and complete projects with time constraints
  • Ability to successfully work independently and within a team environment
